Guidelines
for Donor Agencies
We welcome collaborations with donor agencies to provide financial support
to our students. Below is a detailed guideline to help donor agencies understand the process and
establish a partnership with KIU.
1. Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
The partnership begins with the signing of an MOU between
Karakorum International University and the donor agency. This document formalizes the
collaboration and outlines the responsibilities of both parties, including:
- Scope of the Scholarship Program
- Fund Disbursement Mechanism
- Reporting and Accountability
- Duration and Renewal Terms of the MOU
2. Defining Scholarship Criteria
The donor agency sets its own eligibility and selection criteria for the
scholarship, which may include:
- Academic merit (minimum GPA or percentage)
- Financial need assessment
- Program of study (specific disciplines or levels, e.g., bachelor’s, master’s)
- Regional or gender-based preferences (e.g., students from underprivileged areas, women,
minorities)
- Extracurricular achievements or leadership qualities
3. Application Process
The donor agency can choose one of the following application processes:
- Direct Application: Students apply directly to the donor agency through
their platform.
- University-Facilitated Application: KIU Financial Aid Office collects and
screens applications based on the agency’s criteria.
4. Screening and Selection
- Initial Screening: KIU ensures applications meet the donor’s criteria.
- Final Selection: Donor agency reviews shortlisted candidates.
- Interviews or Additional Assessments: If required, the donor agency
conducts interviews or further assessments.
5. Disbursement of Funds
Funds can be transferred to:
- Students' Accounts: For stipends, book allowances, or other direct support.
- KIU’s Financial Aid Office: For tuition fee waivers or university dues.
6. Monitoring and Reporting
KIU will provide periodic reports to the donor agency, including:
- Academic progress of scholarship recipients
- Financial utilization reports
- Impact assessments or case studies (if requested)
7. Renewal and Continuation
Scholarships are typically renewable annually, subject to:
- Satisfactory academic performance
- Continued financial need
- Compliance with donor agency’s terms and conditions
8. Publicity and Acknowledgment
KIU acknowledges its donor partnerships through:
- University website and social media
- Events and ceremonies
- Annual reports and publications
Donor agencies may also choose to remain anonymous.
9. Termination of Agreement
The MOU outlines the terms for termination, including:
- Mutual consent to terminate
- Breach of agreement
- Completion of the scholarship program
Upon termination, both parties agree on a plan for unspent funds and ongoing
scholarships.
